QA Videos Available from Washington SW Assoc QA SIG
These videos of key topics in the SW QA field are not available from any
other source and should be of value to any QA or Software Engineering
effort.

1. James Tierney, "From Deming to Shingo: using Japanese Quality Assurance
principles to eradicate problems from your software development process."
Many people have tried unsuccessfully to use highly successful Japanese QA
principles on software development: James describes the Poka Yoke method,
which is highly applicable to software qa, and is widely used at Microsoft
and acclaimed for its strong positive effect. James Tierney is Test
Training Manager at Microsoft and had previously been Director of Test for
Microsoft At Work.

Comment: I purchased this video tape. It is a taped presentation of an
ASQC tutorial or meeting. The presentation utilizes powerpoint slides.
It will be of most interest to software engineers concerned with software
testing and the use of debuggers. If you are looking for a highly produced
"whiz-bang" poka-yoke video, you may need to look elsewhere. John Grout

2. QA Career Opportunities
James Bach of Software Testing Laboratories presented the talk,
"Career Opportunities and Trends in the World of Market-Driven Software".

James's presentation covered QA's role in today's software development
environment, described the skills required to find employment in SQA,
and provided a number of various career opportunities for those in the
QA/Test field. The talk also answered a number of questions regarding
the future in the field of market-driven software testing. James Bach is
Chief Scientist at Software Testing Labs, and had previously been QA
manager at Borland and Apple.
