1.  This exercise comes from a newspaper story in the Quad Cities Times (qctimes.com) Tuesday, December 3rd, 2002, titled Truck gets stuck under Brady Street bridge, by Todd Ruger (pictures come from a different accident from the internet).

“Crews worked all day Tuesday to free the trailer of a Dubuque, Iowa-area delivery truck carrying  Budweiser beer, the latest victim of a low-clearance bridge at 5th and Brady streets. The driver was headed north on Brady about 9 a.m. when the vehicle became wedged beneath the bridge, which carries railroad tracks across Brady just south of 5th Street. The impact ripped off the top of the trailer, folding the metal like an accordion. The truck’s center collapsed, and beer heading toward the storm sewer drain froze to the street. Crews fought impending darkness while working to remove the trailer. 

Police ticketed the driver for disobeying a traffic sign — the one that warns the bridge is a bit more than 11 feet above the pavement.

It was the ninth time a truck has struck the bridge at Brady street since Jan. 1, 2001. During the same period, nine other trucks have struck the bridge two blocks away that crosses Harrison Street, Davenport police Capt. David Struckman said. Truckers driving down the Harrison Street hill see city-installed flashing warning lights, in addition to all of the other warning signs that exist for the bridge. However, truckers driving north on Brady only see a sign announcing the height of the bridge to warn them.
