Welcome to the website for the 2009 Tutoring Program in Costa Rica led by Berry College and the Fundación Progreso Guanacaste. The Fundación Progreso Guanacaste is a non-profit organization that serves as a bi-cultural bridge to offer community empowerment through better housing for those in need, integrated health services and accessibility to better quality education and educational infrastructure. As a part of this mission, the Fundación sponsors a program for Berry College students to teach English for seven weeks in the Guanacaste region. This program, which takes place from May 14 to July 4, 2009, is designed to provide Costa Rican teachers assistance with their classes. Besides the students serving in local schools, other Berry students are involved in the foundation's medical initiatives and the Hacienda Pinilla's environmental unit. Students will also be taking SPA 305, taught by Dr. David Slade. Last updated: June 19, 2009 | Contact: dslade(at)berry.edu |
